Age UK Day Club
September 12, 2016
Our target groups are those who
are socially isolated. The groups are
participative and we encourage our
clients to play a full part in them.
We welcome wheelchair users; all
our venues are flat and user friendly.
We also look forward to welcoming
couples and more able people who
may like to play a role in the running
of the clubs.
The clubs are not ‘drop in’ centres and
we look for a degree of commitment
from our clients to enable us to book
transport and arrange catering.
We will give clients all the contact information they need to keep in touch with us.
We have a small team of staff which is supplemented by a very active group of volunteers. We are only able to offer social support to our clients and do not have any staff trained to
do toileting, give medication or feed clients. We will help in any way we can, but we cannot undertake these personal care needs. Our service is not free, but we do our best to keep costs to a minimum. We ask our clients to pay for their lunches and their transport, either the Age UK York mini-bus or community transport. They also contribute to the funds by a subscription which is used to buy provisions and for a savings fund which subsidises their
outing costs and their in-house entertainment.
